Yu. A. Kosygin Institute of Tectonics and Geophysics is considered to be one of the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which combines successfully the studies on such fundamental problems as tectonics and deep structure of the continental and oceanic lithosphere; seismicity and seismogeodynamics; oil and gas content and coal content of the sedimentary basins; relationship between the processes of the formation of magmatic complexes and the associated ore mineralization and geodynamics of the lithosphere. All these problems are of extreme value for the scientific understanding of the evolution of the Earth and its influence on the Human Being.
